Sacred Spaces
What do I seek
What draws me deep
I feel the need to find a place
What shall I call it, I call it my sacred space
I love the world and all I learned
Yet there are times my soul does yearn
To still this voice, what do I need
A quiet place to listen and heed
Why do I seek to find this room
To connect to step out of the gloom
Do I build this place to find my soul
Or look within and simply meet my soul
I find my inner room when I quiet my mind
In a special place when I step out of time
My sacred place is mine alone
When I go there, I'm safe, it feels like home
For this is my inner room, my sacred space
I am restored, I found my healing place

Deep within our being is a longing to reconnect with the connection that we have a faint remembrance of a place where we were able to be a radiant light, capable of all things.
When we started our earthly journey, with enthusiasm and excitement, we also experienced a feeling of separation. We sensed that there was somewhere that we could go to reconnect to this incredible feeling of pure joy.
I know as a child that I was always creating my special place. Even when I took the sheets off my bed to make myself a fort, I guarantee you my mother was not pleased.
It did, however, afford me a sense of being close to something that I felt was gone.
Eventually I built a treehouse, and that was my sacred space.
Not calling it that, of course, because I did not have those words. I created a space where I could reconnect to something that seemed to be missing, something that I could only find when I withdrew from all around me. Not realizing that I was creating a place where I could reconnect with my own soul.
As we became engaged in the world, it became more and more hectic and busy, and yet there was this deep knowing that our true self needed to have a safe exit from all the clamor in the world. As adults, we began the journey into our own reflection, looking for our authentic self.
Over time, our sacred space took on many different looks as we moved through the world. Maybe we found solace in his favorite chair when nobody else was around, where we could get cozy and feel serenity and peace. Maybe it was a favorite spot in the garden underneath our favorite tree. Maybe It was just being able to listen to a special song that allowed us to find our inner room. When we entered this place, we found peace and sanctuary.
I remember a song that they used to sing at Unity, and it was simply called Our Inner Room, Our Sacred Room. Over time, we find that our inner room is really always with us. We find that when we quiet our mind through meditation, listening to our favorite song, taking a walk, or doing deep breath work, we can enter our sacred inner room anytime, anywhere. This is a place to soothe our soul, reset it, and be inspired.
Sacred spaces are not static. As we grow and heal and remember our soul connection, our physical space may shift, but we can always find our inner room within our own being. When we reconnect and put ourselves back together, we can recharge, rearrange, reimagine, and recreate. This is a place of renewal. When we reconnect in this divine space, there is a feeling of coming home, a place where you can pause and take a deep breath, clear your thoughts, and feel the magnificence of the universe all around you.
When you pause to listen to what calms your soul, you again gain your perspective and can see the potential that lies before you.
Being able to reconnect within the depths of your soul helps you heal from the chaos and the clamor that we sometimes call life. This is a perfect place where you may discover that when you are in your sacred space, you connect to what is deeper within.
You realize that this is a healing art of your self-love, and you will reap the benefits of doing it regularly.
Even something as simple as starting your day with an affirmation, looking into the mirror and wrapping your arms around yourself and saying I love you, I love you, I love you. Give this gift to yourself, and it will bring a sense of connection, peace, and power.
As you embody unconditional love, you feel the warmth of your connection to creation, and in your divine space, you are reborn.
Every Tuesday evening, I host a heart-centered meditation at my center in Mesa, Arizona, which I call the Open-Heart Meditation. During this session, I guide the group into the depths of our heart’s center, filling it with joy as we allow it to expand and vibrate faster and faster. Through this practice, we embrace our true essence as beings of light.
If you’re in the Phoenix or Mesa area, I warmly invite you to join us. Feel free to reach out and become part of our Open-Heart Meditation community.

I see you, I appreciate you, I honor you
